Pent up at home

With all this potty training I have been at home a lot. Emma has been watching a lot of shows while sitting on the potty. So I feel guilty with her sitting at home watching TV all the time, but it is hard to go out anywhere while trying to potty train. So we went out for a walk with her scooter. She loves her scooter! It was hot, but it was nice to be out of the house for a little bit.

She Did It, She Did It!!!

Finally, for the first time in two weeks of potty training Emma pooped on the potty. Well, actually, at first she pooped a little in her panties. She was playing awfully quietly in "the park" this morning when I decided to check on her and I noticed she had pooped in her panties a little. So I rushed her to the potty and made her sit on it and then she "did it" she "did it". She was so proud of herself! Hopefully now she gets the point that you poop on the potty and not in the panties! She really did very well with potty training today. She only peed on the floor once and peed in the potty more times than I could count. Of course giving her watered down tea, a diuretic, helped her need to pee a lot. Emma's gotten pretty good about recognizing when she needs to go or not. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Goofy Hair

I love making Emma's hair all silly and goofy during her bath and I can't help but take pictures of it to use as blackmail later! =) hehe

Still Potty Training....

Ok, so potty training is hard. Emma is making great progress. But we can't go anywhere, or if we do I am always afraid she is going to pee on herself. So last week I thought, I will get her pullups. Well, those have just slowed potty training down. I used them last week when we were out and Emma would just pee in them as if she had a diaper on. So after talking with a Pediatrician this weekend I have decided, no diaper or pullups except at bed time. That's right, even during her nap. She is just going to have to figure it out. So here is that tally for today.

Peed on the floor: 2
Peed in the potty: 5
Peed in bed during nap time: 1
Pooped in potty: 0
Pooped in her panties: 1
Abby ate poop: 1

Yes, you read that last one right. I am laughing now, but I thought I was going to kill my dog today. Why are dogs so disgusting? So here is the story. Emma pooped in her panties after nap time, luckily it stayed in her panties. So I put the poop in her potty to show her where poop goes. The potty happens to be in the living room. So I took Emma into the bathroom to clean her up and when I came out Abby had taken the poop, like a large peach sized amount, and had eaten it. I started screaming at her, I was so disgusted and grossed out. Luckily Kevin was home and I screamed at him to "do something with Abby before I beat her, I'm just going to kill her." Yes, I know, maybe I shouldn't have shouted that I would kill Abby right in front of Emma. Kevin let Abby outside and came up to see what all the fuss was about. I was almost in tears, I am not sure if it was mostly b/c of Abby or that potty training is really hard and I was tired of cleaning up Emma's mess. Kevin just kept saying, "you will look back at this and laugh, it's ok, dogs eat poop". Ewwww. I don't care, my dog won't eat poop! Even if I have to beat her regularly, just kidding. =)

Water Safety

Today Emma learned how to use and wear a life jacket. She did really good although she didn't like it when the teacher let go. She floated by herself, but she cried and flailed in the water.

All Smiles

This is just a cute picture of Emma in the car.

Play with Maddy....?

Today I took Emma out to play at one of her favorite places. The problem is she always goes with Maddy. This morning when I asked her if she wanted to go and play she said "Yes, play with Maddy too." I said, "No, baby, Maddy moved away, it will just be Mommy and Emma today." She then said, "Play with Maddy, pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssse." My eyes just started tearing up and I told her again that it was just going to be me and her. It was so sad. And when we got there she was looking for Maddy. Eventually she just forgot and went off to play. I hope that isn't the long term effect..... forgetting. =(

Silly mama!

Emma and I playing around before bedtime.

No, No, No, I love you Mama

This video is of Emma and I being silly before bedtime. Sorry it is a little wobbly, I am filming it myself with her crawling all over me. I just love this video, it captures her saying, "No, no, no, I love you, mama". I know she won't say that forever, so I am glad I have it on video. =)

Animals

Emma just loves our animals. We have Abby our dog which is a Sheltie. Missy and Stinky our cats. A tank of fish with Carl the Crawfish (long story). Here she is giving hugs and kisses to Stinky and playing with Abby. The cats don't care for Emma much, but Abby tolerates her well.

Cleaning out the Closets

Well, one benefit of having no friends (just kidding, I suppose I should say "no, play date friends") is that I can get more stuff done around the house. I cleaned out Emma's closet and dresser drawers today, took out all the clothes that were to small. I also cleaned out her stuffed animals (don't worry, I didn't get rid of anything with any sentimental value) and all the McDonald's toys and toys she doesn't play with that were piling up!

I was in such a cleaning mood that once Emma was down for a nap I cleaned out the nursery's closet and basically set up the nursery for our next baby, and no, I am not pregnant yet, although I did feel a bit like I was nesting. Crazy! The next nursery is going to be decorated in Elmer the Elephant, here is what we have so far. It will work for both a boy or girl. Basically all we have left to do is hang the pictures, make a cover for the desk which we are going to make into a changing table, buy some baskets for storage under the desk, and some other decorative items. It will be really cute when we are all said and done.
Now my next project is that I have collected all the clothes that are to small for Emma from newborn to 2T and I am going to resort everything and get rid of some things. That way if we have another girl everything will be organized and it will be easy to find everything. Wow, I am being so productive, what's wrong with me? hehe It's amazing how many clothes we have for Emma, hopefully we will have another girl so that we can use them all again. We have 4 huge lawn bags , 3 large plastic boxes, 1 medium box, and 5 small boxes full of clothing! This is going to be a big project, but I have been meaning to do if for a while, I will feel so much better once it is done.

New Swim Class

Emma is taking another two week swim class with all new kids. The instructors are mostly the same, but now there are 4 girls and 2 boys in the class.

No,no,no, I love you mama

Kevin started playing a game with Emma which I call the "I love you" game. He or I will start by saying "I love you Emma" and she will say "I love you mama" and then I will say "No, no, no, I love you Emma" and then she will say "No, no, no, I love you mama" and we can go back and forth ten times or more. It is the sweetest most wonderful game ever. Emma just grins from ear to ear when we play. I just love her so much! What a fun age she is right now.

It's official...

My friends are moving away on Monday. Today is the last day that we were able to do something together. Laura and Maddy (Anna and John) are moving to east Texas. I know, east Texas is only like an hour and a half away, but when you meet with your friend 2-3 times a week an almost 2 hour drive is forever away. I was so sad, and I have know it was coming for 3 years. You would think that I would have adjusted to the idea by now. Yeah, no. Everyone keeps telling me that it will be ok, we'll still visit each other. Even if we visit each other for a few days during the week, it still will only be every few weeks or so, it just won't be the same. Here are some last pictures of our play date and the sweetest video of the girls telling each other they love each other. =*-(

Pronouns

Emma is starting to say him, her, and yours. Most of the time she gets it wrong but I am impressed that she is trying to figure it out. The other day Emma was referring to Kevin and said "she", we explained to her that daddy was a boy and is a "he" and mommy is a girl and is a "she". Kevin was so impressed he said, "Wow, our daughter is learning to use pronouns." She is getting so big. (Ok, now how many pronouns are written in this paragraph? hehehe)

4th of July

Ok, so Emma is all better after the poop incident, if you haven't read the previous post you should, it's hilarious. Now we are off to see fireworks. I have to say, seeing fireworks with a two year old with an attention span of a, well, two year old, isn't as much fun as it use to be. She was crawling all over everything. We were kind of far away so that we wouldn't have to sit in much traffic coming home, so maybe she would have done better if we were closer and the fireworks could have kept her attention more. Taking pictures at night is a bit trickier, here are a few.

This is how my pictures were turning on using the night time portrait setting on my camera, apparently the person has to sit still other wise they look like a ghost, weird huh?

Ewwww

Ok, so I know I said I wouldn't update you each day about how potty training is going but I have to tell you this story. So Emma didn't go on the potty at all today. This morning her diaper was wet, and she wore panties all morning, then we went to a movie this afternoon and I put Emma in a diaper. Well, she went down for a nap after we came home and I also had her in a diaper. When she got up I put her back in panties thinking maybe I could get her to go once before we left to see fireworks. Her diaper had been pretty wet when she woke up so I asked her if she needed to use the potty and she said no. So off she went to play in the play room. Kevin and I were in the living room. After a few minutes Emma comes running into the living room with something in her hand and she is crying and saying "poopie". Yeah, ewwww, exactly what you are thinking. She has a huge piece of poop in her hand (I'm laughing just typing it!) and she is trying to hand it to me. And of course she is freaking out! So I take her to the bathroom and have her drop it into the toilet, I strip her down and her panties are filled with poop, she has it all over her hands and legs and she is crying. It was quite a scene. Anyways we got her all bathed and clean. We had to rinse out the tub and then refill it with clean water to give her a bath! It was hilarious. For about 15 seconds it wasn't funny, but after that I couldn't stop laughing. Strange, I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that if my daughter tried to hand me poop would I think it was funny! Crazy what parenthood does to you. Being a mother is great!

Day 2 on Potty Training

Success! I had put Emma in a night time diaper last night. We got up kind of late this morning and when I went to change her the diaper was full! I asked her if she wanted to put on another diaper or big girl panties and she said she wanted to wear panties. So we went and had breakfast and played in the downstairs living room. I had her sit on the potty several times but she didn't go. She finally did around 1pm. We ate lunch and I had her sit on the potty again and she peed again. This time it was hilarious, she jumped up and said "yeah, candy!". Hehehe. I did put her in a diaper for nap time and when she woke up she was dry! =) She went one more time before bedtime. Once again she jumped up and said "Yeah, candy". It was to cute. So, I guess I'll keep trying to get her potty trained since she is doing so well. Oh, and don't worry, I wont' give an update everyday. I am sure you don't care to have a daily "potty" update I just wanted to let you know how day 2 went. =)

Potty Training

Ok, here goes. I am going to try to potty train Emma this week. If it doesn't work, then I will try again in November. (I hopefully will be pregnant in the next month or two so I anticipate I will feel gross for a while). So my plan is to camp out in our living room down stairs on the hard wood floor, which is easier to clean up accidents than on the carpet. I put panties on her and we were off! She peed on herself 3 times in 45 min! She totally flipped out crying, I knew she would, she hates to be messy. Well, after cleaning her up 3 times I decided to sit her on the potty every 15min. After the second time I sat her on the potty she peed! Yeah! What a big girl. She liked to put her panties on herself, there is a really cute picture of her panties on backwards! So, she didn't pee on the floor or in the potty again before her nap. I put her in a diaper for her nap, she peed a ton 5 min after I put her in it so I changed her. She actually woke up dry, so I put her on the potty. She sat on the potty in front of the TV for an hour with no pee! I asked her if she wanted to wear a diaper or panties and she said panties. She didn't pee on herself again, she was dry from the beginning of her nap until bed time. I put a nighttime diaper on her and she pooped and peed in the diaper 10 min afterwards. So, I don't know, it might not be time yet. She did pee on the potty once and she was dry for a long period, so who knows. I won't give up after one day.

Doesn't she look so cute in big girl panties?
(Notice the water proof cover I put on the furniture, hehe) Her attempt at putting on panties.
(Notice the tag on the outside). hehehe Pee on the floor. (Black mail pictures!) Pee in the potty!

One Week Follow Up On The Big Girl Bed

Emma loves her big girl bed. She always wants to climb in herself saying, "I do it". When she is in bed she stays too! She waits until we come and get her after her nap or in the morning. She really is the greatest most laid back little girl. When we moved in the new furniture we took out the crib and the rocking chair. I will have to say that the only downfall with doing that is now she doesn't want to rock and sing songs any more. I've tried rocking her in the living room rocking chair and she just wants to go and climb into her big girl bed. Not that I am really complaining that my daughter actually wants to go to bed. But it is sad that I don't have that snuggle time anymore. I tried to get into her bed with her to lie there and sing song or just snuggle, yeah, that was a no go. She told me to get out, literally. I have tried several times and every time she tells me, "no, mama, get off." Oh, well, maybe after she gets over the initial excitement of having a big girl bed she will snuggle more. I sure do miss it. But I am so proud of my little baby growing up!
