Cool weather

Finally, a day that isn't 110 degrees outside! Emma and I went to the park, a real park. We meet Laura and Maddy. It was so nice. I wanted to get a blanket and lay on the grass and take a nap. Of course, I would have had to tie Emma up to a tree or something to keep her from wandering off while I napped. Guess we forgo those type of things when we have children huh? We had a great time at the park. We are going to go back tomorrow if the weather is still nice. I LOVE the fall. It is my favorite time of year.

Church

Kevin took Emma to Church today! I am so excited, I wish I could have gone. Not being able to go to church is the one thing that is really hard about working weekends. We have been waiting until Emma can walk before we take her to church. That way she isn't crawling over the floor and then sticking germs in her mouth when she sucks her thumb. So hopefully she won't get sick too much this next fall/winter/spring. I am sure we are going to have to deal with her being sick several times being "exposed" to all the other children. I guess we will see.

Belly Button

I showed Emma where her belly button was today. It's so cute. She is so cubby that she has to move her fat out of the way to find it. When she finds it she laughs and sticks her finger in her belly button and wiggles it around. I will try to get it on video. It is really cute.

Box?

Now that Emma is walking she loves to carry things around. Especially boxes. She loves to carry around the wet wipes box. She hasn't figured out how to open it yet so there can't be much harm to it, plus, it keeps her hands occupied and out of trouble.

Ice cream

We took Emma to an ice cream parlor (do they use that word still?). We got her a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. She loved it. She ate all her's then some of mine. She cried when it was all gone!

Bird

My mom got Emma a toy bird recently. When you push it's tail it sings. Emma loves it. Well, today Abby got ahold of it. Here is a picture of Emma kissing the bird, and then shortly after I found it chewed up. So, I sewed it up. I think it looks a bit creepy, but Emma still liked it.

Outfit

I just love that Emma is walking now so that I can put her in cute clothes. Before I would have to worry about catching dresses when she crawled. Now I can put her in all types of cute skirts and dressed!

Bath Time Pictures

So tired

Emma was watching Boz (her favorite DVD) while I was vacuuming. I still put her in the exersaucer sometimes when I can't have her following me around. When I was done I came back and found her sleeping. Isn't she cute?

Good News/Bad News

The good news is that Emma does not have a UTI . The bad news is we don't know what's wrong with her. Kevin said she was a bit fussy this weekend but overall seemed ok. Today Emma was very fussy and had a fever of 100.1 this afternoon. She took a great nap and seemed happy tonight. The MD wanted to wait it out for a week or so and see how she is feeling. We'll see how she is this week.

UTI?

I took Emma to the doctor today. I have been wondering lately if Emma might have a urinary tract infection (UTI) or bladder infection. The other day she was pulling at her diaper and crying and last night she was crying saying "Potty, peepee, owwie". Last night she also had a low grade temp of 99.8. So I decided to go ahead and take her into the Dr's office. The MD examined her thoroughly. I think he thought I was making it up or over paranoid b/c it is unusual for children of this age to have UTI's. So I put a urine collection bag on her and we waited, and waited, and waited for her to pee. Finally, she peed and they did a dip stick test and it showed +1 Lukocytes, which basically means she could have an infection or it could be contamination since they did not collect the urine by a sterile method (which would have included a catheter and very invasive and painful). Anyways, so the MD is going to send off the urine for a culture and he started her on antibiotics. We'll find out Monday! I'll let you know.

Fish

Emma loves fish. We have a fish tank that she stops at frequently to look at the fish. We also redid her bathroom in fish which she loves. Here we are at the mall looking at some fish!

The Real Park

Now that Emma is walking I took her to the real park today. She seemed to really like it. I found a park near where grandma lives that has the soft squishy foam flooring instead of bark. That way Emma could walk without stumbling. She seemed to really like it, but boy was it hot! Her cheeks were all red when we left. I stripped off her pants when I put her in the car and cranked up the air. (I put her in pants so that if she fell she wouldn't scrape her knees, also she crawled up the stairs).

Sauce

Every time I feed Emma I ask her what she wants to eat and she says "sauce", meaning apple sauce. She LOVES apple sauce. She could eat it with every meal. Well, I started giving her a spoon so that she can eat it herself. Usually she does very well. Today, I made the mistake of leaving the room while she ate her sauce. I came back and found this! After pictures she had a bath!

Books

Emma loves reading books. I bought the most awesome books from Reader's Digest. It is the full alphabet. Each book is a letter. Once Emma gets bigger the books can help her learn to spell by "hooking" the books together to make words. Also, on the back is a big puzzle. I only have A-I right now, I can't wait until I get the whole series. Some of the stories are kindof stupid, but most of them are really good.

Here is a funny story. I have been trying to get Emma to recognize each of the different letters. My mom was over the other day and I had all the books laid out and I picked up the "D" book. I asked Emma what letter it was and she said "D". My mom was so impressed. Then I picked up the "A" book and Emma said "D", "B" book and Emma said "D"... Then mom wasn't quite that impressed. Can you tell that Emma's favorite book is the "D" book?
