Ferret

Emma's friend Katie has a pet ferret named Sonic. At the play date today they took Sonic out to play. Emma seemed to like the little guy. Katie is a little more aggressive with poor little Sonic. I would consider getting a ferret if they weren't so stinky and the fact that the cats would probably love to "play" with one.

Easter Day At Mema's

I was actually off for Easter this year. I won a free day off from work with pay. I decided to use it for Easter so I could attend the church service and do an Easter egg hunt with Emma. I decorated real hard boiled eggs for Emma the night before Easter. It was so much fun, now I know why my mom decorated eggs for us for so long (I think until we were teenagers!).

Aquarium with Friends

It's spring break, not that it matters for me since Emma isn't in school, but my friends daughter is out of school for the week. So we thought we would be adventurous and go to the Dallas Zoo. Well, after sitting in traffic for 15 minutes we got up to the zoo for the police officer to tell us it was closed and over crowded! What! The girls were so disappointed. On our way home I suggested we go to the aquarium instead. I love the Dallas World Aquarium. It is kind of expensive, but I think well worth it. The girls loved it.

Easter Egg Hunt

My friend and I took our girls to the city Easter Egg hunt. We've taken them there the last 3 years. Emma really loves it. They have a lot of really fun activities prior to the hunt. This year at least Emma didn't cry with the Easter bunny, but she wanted me to sit right by her. Emma's friend Lauren wasn't so sure about the bunny. So Emma held her hand to give her some emotional support! Hehehe. =)

Face Painting

Emma loves the petting zoo. Then we used lots and lots of antibacterial gel!

There weren't as many children this year so Emma could collect as many eggs as she wanted. Actually when she started putting the eggs in her basket she was only picking up the pink eggs, she is such a girl! Hehe =) Several of the eggs were open and Emma realized that there was candy inside, so after a while she stopped picking up the eggs and started picking up only the candy!

Emma's basket got so full from all her pink eggs I had to find a place to put them. Megan didn't seem to mind.
Trying to get a picture of Emma and I together but she wasn't being cooperative. Emma won the very last door prize, a coloring book. Of course she ended up trading it for Lauren's balloon.

Puzzles

Emma loves doing puzzles. I have several wooden puzzles that she will pull out and work on. Most of them are cheap wooden puzzles covered in lead paint I'm sure. Anyways, she was working on an alphabet puzzle and I was helping her learn her letters. On each of the letters is a picture that starts with that letter, for example a picture of an apple for the letter "A". Well, we were working on the letter "K". So what picture would you expect? A kite or a kitten maybe. No, it is a picture of a knife. A knife! First of all why would they put a picture of a knife on a child's puzzle. Second of all it's a silent k!! I had been asking Emma what each of the pictures were to help her learn the sounds of her letters. So when we got to that one I asked her what the picture was and she paused and said, "ummmm, a cutter." Hehehehe. At least she picked a word that started with the K sound. She is so smart. I just started laughing. It was so cute. I said, "yes baby, it's a cutter."

Cutie Pie

This is what happens when you let a 3 year old dress herself. Blue dinosaur pajama bottoms and a frilly pink tank top. She looked so cute playing with her new camera so I thought I would take a picture of her taking a picture.

Thank you notes

I'm trying to teach Emma manners so I had Emma help me with the thank you notes for her birthday gifts. After I wrote them out I had her color them and put stickers on them. I think she really liked helping out.

GI Bug

Our family had our first GI Bug. Thank God for my mother coming over and taking care of all of us! I had actually gone to work on Sat. Unbeknownst to me Kevin and Emma started getting sick early Sat morning, but Kevin had been getting up with Emma throughout the night to take care of her while I slept. My friend Laura was still in town and she got up once to help change the sheets on the bed since Emma threw up all over them. So I had gone to work not even knowing what had gone on all night. Our friends left that morning so Kevin and Emma were left to fend for themselves. Kevin started going down hill so I called my mom to see if she could go to the house and take care of them. My mom said when she got to the house both Kevin and Emma were laying on the bathroom floor with pillows and blankets! How tragic. By mid afternoon on Sat I started feeling bad myself. So I came home from work. When I got home Emma and Kevin were so pitiful. Kevin and I were on the couch and Emma crawled up into my lap. I just had to have my mom take a picture of this moment, our first family GI Bug. Luckily it didn't seem to last longer than 24 hours. Don't we look so pitiful!

Snow

This has been such a strange winter. The weather overall has been great. But just this week it has snowed the day before and now the day after Emma's birthday. Weird!

Birthday Presents

When your three years old opening presents in front of a bunch of other three year olds is a bit difficult. So we opted to do it at home. Here are some pictures of her opening presents. Emma's friend Maddy (and her family) were staying the night so she helped Emma open presents.
