Pronouns

Emma is starting to say him, her, and yours. Most of the time she gets it wrong but I am impressed that she is trying to figure it out. The other day Emma was referring to Kevin and said "she", we explained to her that daddy was a boy and is a "he" and mommy is a girl and is a "she". Kevin was so impressed he said, "Wow, our daughter is learning to use pronouns." She is getting so big. (Ok, now how many pronouns are written in this paragraph? hehehe)

4th of July

Ok, so Emma is all better after the poop incident, if you haven't read the previous post you should, it's hilarious. Now we are off to see fireworks. I have to say, seeing fireworks with a two year old with an attention span of a, well, two year old, isn't as much fun as it use to be. She was crawling all over everything. We were kind of far away so that we wouldn't have to sit in much traffic coming home, so maybe she would have done better if we were closer and the fireworks could have kept her attention more. Taking pictures at night is a bit trickier, here are a few.

This is how my pictures were turning on using the night time portrait setting on my camera, apparently the person has to sit still other wise they look like a ghost, weird huh?

Ewwww

Ok, so I know I said I wouldn't update you each day about how potty training is going but I have to tell you this story. So Emma didn't go on the potty at all today. This morning her diaper was wet, and she wore panties all morning, then we went to a movie this afternoon and I put Emma in a diaper. Well, she went down for a nap after we came home and I also had her in a diaper. When she got up I put her back in panties thinking maybe I could get her to go once before we left to see fireworks. Her diaper had been pretty wet when she woke up so I asked her if she needed to use the potty and she said no. So off she went to play in the play room. Kevin and I were in the living room. After a few minutes Emma comes running into the living room with something in her hand and she is crying and saying "poopie". Yeah, ewwww, exactly what you are thinking. She has a huge piece of poop in her hand (I'm laughing just typing it!) and she is trying to hand it to me. And of course she is freaking out! So I take her to the bathroom and have her drop it into the toilet, I strip her down and her panties are filled with poop, she has it all over her hands and legs and she is crying. It was quite a scene. Anyways we got her all bathed and clean. We had to rinse out the tub and then refill it with clean water to give her a bath! It was hilarious. For about 15 seconds it wasn't funny, but after that I couldn't stop laughing. Strange, I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that if my daughter tried to hand me poop would I think it was funny! Crazy what parenthood does to you. Being a mother is great!

Day 2 on Potty Training

Success! I had put Emma in a night time diaper last night. We got up kind of late this morning and when I went to change her the diaper was full! I asked her if she wanted to put on another diaper or big girl panties and she said she wanted to wear panties. So we went and had breakfast and played in the downstairs living room. I had her sit on the potty several times but she didn't go. She finally did around 1pm. We ate lunch and I had her sit on the potty again and she peed again. This time it was hilarious, she jumped up and said "yeah, candy!". Hehehe. I did put her in a diaper for nap time and when she woke up she was dry! =) She went one more time before bedtime. Once again she jumped up and said "Yeah, candy". It was to cute. So, I guess I'll keep trying to get her potty trained since she is doing so well. Oh, and don't worry, I wont' give an update everyday. I am sure you don't care to have a daily "potty" update I just wanted to let you know how day 2 went. =)

Potty Training

Ok, here goes. I am going to try to potty train Emma this week. If it doesn't work, then I will try again in November. (I hopefully will be pregnant in the next month or two so I anticipate I will feel gross for a while). So my plan is to camp out in our living room down stairs on the hard wood floor, which is easier to clean up accidents than on the carpet. I put panties on her and we were off! She peed on herself 3 times in 45 min! She totally flipped out crying, I knew she would, she hates to be messy. Well, after cleaning her up 3 times I decided to sit her on the potty every 15min. After the second time I sat her on the potty she peed! Yeah! What a big girl. She liked to put her panties on herself, there is a really cute picture of her panties on backwards! So, she didn't pee on the floor or in the potty again before her nap. I put her in a diaper for her nap, she peed a ton 5 min after I put her in it so I changed her. She actually woke up dry, so I put her on the potty. She sat on the potty in front of the TV for an hour with no pee! I asked her if she wanted to wear a diaper or panties and she said panties. She didn't pee on herself again, she was dry from the beginning of her nap until bed time. I put a nighttime diaper on her and she pooped and peed in the diaper 10 min afterwards. So, I don't know, it might not be time yet. She did pee on the potty once and she was dry for a long period, so who knows. I won't give up after one day.

Doesn't she look so cute in big girl panties?
(Notice the water proof cover I put on the furniture, hehe) Her attempt at putting on panties.
(Notice the tag on the outside). hehehe Pee on the floor. (Black mail pictures!) Pee in the potty!

One Week Follow Up On The Big Girl Bed

Emma loves her big girl bed. She always wants to climb in herself saying, "I do it". When she is in bed she stays too! She waits until we come and get her after her nap or in the morning. She really is the greatest most laid back little girl. When we moved in the new furniture we took out the crib and the rocking chair. I will have to say that the only downfall with doing that is now she doesn't want to rock and sing songs any more. I've tried rocking her in the living room rocking chair and she just wants to go and climb into her big girl bed. Not that I am really complaining that my daughter actually wants to go to bed. But it is sad that I don't have that snuggle time anymore. I tried to get into her bed with her to lie there and sing song or just snuggle, yeah, that was a no go. She told me to get out, literally. I have tried several times and every time she tells me, "no, mama, get off." Oh, well, maybe after she gets over the initial excitement of having a big girl bed she will snuggle more. I sure do miss it. But I am so proud of my little baby growing up!

They did a quick little ceremony at Emma's swim lessons. It was cute, she went up and picked up her certificate. Then she got to play for most of the session.

Bath Time Fun

Our friends spent the day with us today. At the end of the day we threw all the girls into the bath together. It was interesting. It will be easier once Anna is sitting up better.

BIG GIRL BED!

Well, we've done it. We switched Emma to a big girl bed. Emma loves to climb in her big girl bed. I'll let you know how she does. Kevin is a little worried that she will get up and play in her room. I guess we will see. I made the orange covers for the side rails, cool huh? I was pretty proud of myself. =)

I love you mama

Now this is why I am a parent. I was rocking Emma tonight before bed and she reached up and ever so gently rubbed my cheek and said "I love you mama". Oooohhhhh, I think my heart melted at that very moment. My eyes teared up a bit. It was one of the sweetest moments I have had as a mother. It is all worth it for these moments!

Swim Lessons

I signed Emma up for swim lessons this summer. The city actually offers lessons for 2 year olds, most cities you have to take a mommy and me class. It is great! I don't have to get in the water and Emma loves it. The first few days she was a little hesitant in the water and wouldn't move without holding onto someone's hand. Being that she was the only girl with 5 other boys in the class the swim instructors tended to baby her, I asked the swim teachers if they could try to get her to start walking on her own in the water. After one session she was off on her own! My baby is getting so big.

Odd ball

I put Emma on the potty today to see if she would go, she didn't, but I walked out to get a clean diaper and some pants and I came back and she was wearing her bloomers on her head. She is such a goofball. She is definitely my daughter, when I was a kid I always liked putting pantyhose, the legs of cut off jeans, and other weird things on my head! hehehe =)

Share

While we were visiting Kaleb this last week the funniest thing happened. I was dishing out cherry cobbler to everyone. I had given Emma a scoop of vanilla ice cream first. Well, by the time I sat down to eat my cherry cobbler Emma was done with her ice cream. She looked at my bowl and said, "Mmmmm, pie." I told her, "Emma, you already had your ice cream, this is mama's." And she said, "Mama, share!" Well, how could I resist! You can't teach a 2 year old to share if you won't share. She is so clever.

Kaleb

My mom, Emma, and I are flew out to see Kaleb, my brothers new baby and Emma's cousin. We stayed June 11th-June 15th. We didn't do anything exciting other than sit and hold a sweet baby! It was great, I miss him now that I am back home. Here are some really great pictures of Kaleb.
