Happy 3rd Birthday

Emma turned 3! Oh my gosh, I have a three year old. Wow. Where has time gone? We had Emma's birthday party at Going Bonkers. It was fun. She had a great time and I think all her little friends did too.

Snow

It snowed the day before Emma's birthday but it was melted by noon, as always in Texas. Weird it snowing in March.

Children's Theater

Notice that today is Emma's first Leap Year. Tonight we took her to see her friend Luke in a children's play, The Jungle Book. Emma did really well at first. She was fascinated initially and then she got bored. I don't think she really got what was going on in the play. It was getting late, she was getting fidgety, and so we ended up leaving a few minutes early. It was fun and I'm sure we'll do it again.


At the intermission they had people come on the stage who birthday's were coming up. Emma really wanted to get up on the stage, so I let her get up and stand by Luke, he's the monkey on Emma's left (smiling and crossing his arms). She thought that was fun. Maybe I will get her started in our local children's theater. They start at age 4.

Let's Eat Out

Emma and I went grocery shopping today. I mean serious, pack your refrigerator, grocery shopping. Lately we have been eating out a lot too. I love eating out. I could eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Well, since we we've been eating out a bit more whenever Kevin would say "Let's eat out" I would say "ok, but we need to eat cheap". When Emma got up from her nap I told her to get dressed so we could go eat. Emma said "where we gonna eat". I told her we were going to eat at home, downstairs in the kitchen. Emma said " no wanna eat here, I wanna go eat out cheap". LOL. Hmmm, maybe we're eating out to much.

Book Fair

My friend Amy was so kind to take Emma and I along with her to the Carrollton Book Fair. Most of the books were .50 - 2.00! I bought like 12 books for Kevin and I and about 10 books for Emma for only $18! It was great deal! I love places like this. Why spend $10 on a paperback book when you can get it for $1. I love deals.

Emma and Jackson stories

Emma has known she was going to have a baby brother for a month or so. When we found out we were having a boy my mom immediatly told Emma she was having a baby brother. Personally I wanted to wait to tell her when she was closer to turning three or when she started to ask why my tummy was getting so big. =) Do you know how long 6 months is to a two/three year old? Forever! She seems to be getting the concept though. When you ask her what her baby brothers name is going to be she'll say "Jackson Thomas". She has been really interested in reading two books we have about having a baby brother/sister. The other day we were riding in the car and Emma said "baby Jackson be here in 3 minutes." We just laughed. I was about 26 weeks then and was glad that Jackson wasn't going to be here in 3 minutes. I told her it would be more like 3 months.

Here's another cute story about Emma and the baby. We were driving to the Kansas City airport from my grandparents house and Emma was holding a rock. She said, "baby Jackson in the rock". My mom reached over and patted my tummy and said, "no baby Jackson is in mommy's tummy". Emma looked at me quizzically and said, "in your tummy? Did you eat him?". Hehehe, lol. Hmmmm, how do I explain to a two year old that the baby is growing in my uterus. So I told her, "no, mommy has a pocket in my tummy where he is growing." That answer seemed to work for her. Now I'm like a kangaroo with a pouch for my little Joey. Hehehe. Emma just cracks me up. It is so much fun having children.

I think maybe Emma's getting it. Last week my mom was watching Emma play with some felt dolls, like paper dolls but made of felt. My mom noticed something under the mommy's shirt and she asked Emma what it was. Emma lifted off the shirt and showed Mema the little felt baby that she placed there. She said it was baby Jackson in my tummy. She is so clever.

Updated

I have finally updated my blog. I am officially caught up!! It only took me 6 months. Now if I just keep up then it won't be so overwhelming. Of course I'm sure I will get behind when the baby is born.

My blog's name started as "Life with a Baby", then to "Life with a Toddler". Any suggestions on what I should rename the blog after I have two kids? I would like it to start with "Life with..." I was thinking, "Life with two" or "Life with kids". Anything more clever would be appreciated. Feel free to leave a comment. =)

Play Date

Emma had a play date with one of her little friends today. She loves to play with her friends.

Birthday Party

I found where we're going to have Emma's birthday party this year. We had considered having it at home, but there is something to be said for having it at a place where they take care of everything, including cleaning up. This new place is called Going Bonkers and it just opened recently. Imagine the biggest McDonald's playground mixed with Chucky Cheese. I think it will be perfect for the kids we will invite.

Emma can spell

Emma was playing in the bathroom with her letters and numbers. She called out and said "mama, I spelled Emma." Wow, I had to get the camera for this! Well, here you go, this spells Emma according to her! Hehehe. Well, at least she got and "E" in there. She was so proud of herself.

Little Princesses

Emma had her friend Sarah over to play. Luckily we have more than one dress up outfit. Here they are all dressed up as little princesses.

Missouri Trip

To get all my traveling out of the way before Jackson is born Emma and I also went to Missouri to see my grandparents with my mom. Unfortunately my grandparents are planning on selling the one place in the world where I love to visit, their cabin over the lake. So I wanted to get in another visit before they sold the house. Plus, who knows when I will get to travel again after the baby is born. Here is Emma fake sleeping on the plane. We have flown 4 times over the last year and she hasn't slept on any of them!

My grandmother puts out corn for the turkeys and deer each morning. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the deer this week but we did see a ton of turkeys. At one point we counted 20! Did you know turkeys can fly? They were startled and went flying off down the hill. It was weird. After the turkey flew away Emma helped my grandmother lay down some corn! Eventually they all came back, but it took a while, I guess they had to hike it up the hill!

Yay, it snowed today! When I was planning this trip I asked my grandparents to please order snow for Tue -Thur. I didn't want the weather to be bad when we were flying but I really wanted to take Emma out to play in the snow. Not like she is going to see any in Texas! Here she is making a snow angel, all her idea. And my uncle David showing her how to make snowballs to throw at me! Great thanks!

The snow has all melted but this is still my absolute favorite place to be in the world, on my grandparents back porch swing looking out over the lake. Boy how I'm gonna miss this place! Isn't it beautiful?

All the snow from Tue melted but started up again today (Thur). Emma really wanted to go out and catch the snow on her tongue. Where does she come up with this stuff? It must be from one of the shows she watches because this is the first snow she has ever seen. So Mema had to show her to catch snow on her tongue.

It snowed a bit the tonight before we flew home. I wish we would have been able to play in the snow. Notice the three little squirrels trying to find some nuts.
